Chamonix (1035m)
Mont Blanc | Haute-Savoie | France
The village of Chamonix, where the first Olympic winter games took place in 1924, is situated in the middle of a winter wonderland at the bottom of the Mont Blanc. The oldest ski station of the Alps has always been attracted by skiers from all over the world. Chamonix has a car free promenade with shops, restaurants and bars.
The unique mountain village of Servoz at about 14 km (~18 min. by car) from Chamonix has long been part of France's mountaineering heritage and is familiar to climbers everywhere. Settled calmly at the foot of the magnificent Fiz Mountains, the village is steeped in authenticity, standing guard over the valley and providing a magnificent vista across to its 'big brother', Mont Blanc. You ski either at Les Houches - approx. 12 minutes by car - or in Charmonix, approx. 18 minutes by car. Winter activities such as snowshoe hiking and ski alpinism (with a guide) are possible near the chalet.
