Val d’Isere is a traditional ski village at 1.800 m altitude with classy ambiance. In recent history, Val d’Isere built up a reputation for hosting annual ski world cups and the ski competitions of the Winter Olympics in 1992. If you enter Val d’Isere you first come to La Daille from where you can see parts of the Olympic slope. Next is the main part of Val d’Isere which offers almost everything you can wish for in a mountain village. Besides these there are the two small districts of Laisinant and Le Fornet. Close to the area is the Vanoise National Park, which offers a beautiful view.
Winter-Information ski & freeride Together with Tignes, Val d’Isere is part of the ski resort Espace Killy. It is named after the three times Olympic gold medallist Jean-Claude Killy. The altitude reaches from 1.550 m up to astonishing 3.456 m. Therefore, it is a true winter paradise with good snow conditions into late spring. Because of the long ski season Espace Killy is usually the venue for the first ski world cup of the season. This takes place at the famous Face de Bellevarde, which is the only downhill run that gives the skiers a view down to the finish line from the start. Beginners can book ski courses, and more advanced skiers are free to explore the back country with experienced mountain guides.
Toboggan and other winter activities Val d’Isere offers one toboggan run and the possibility to rent sledges. Winter hiking trails are ready to be explored with or without snowshoes.
