La Villa – also known as La Ila or ‘star’ – is situated in the heart of the UNESCO world heritage Dolomite mountains in Alta Badia. There are 6 small villages with approx. 6000 inhabitants in total. This part of Southern Tyrol conserves its traditions and still communicates in the Ladinic language. La Villa is connected with the Val Gardena via Corvara and the Gardena Mountain Pass. You can reach the Olympic village of Cortina d´Ampezzo via St Kassian and the Falzarego Mountain Pass. In winter the whole ski area can be explored from La Villa with the Dolomiti Superski Pass. The ski lifts and ski slopes are seamlessly connected and take you to other villages like Arabba and Malga Ciapela. There is the glacial ski area Marmolada. Skiers can also ski to the Fassa Valley (Trentino) or the Gardena valley where famous villages like Wokenstein, St. Christina and St. Ulrich offer ski fun for everybody. They are all included in the Dolomiti Super Ski pass.
The widespread ski area Alta Badia has 53 ski lifts in total: One gondola, eight cable cars, 31 chair lifts, twelve drag lifts and even one elavator take 84.000 passengers per hour up to the mountains without delays. If necessary, 391 snow cannons spread artificial snow over the ski slopes. Skiers can chose between 70 blue/easy ski slopes, 52 red/intermediate and 8 black/difficult ski slopes. There are 40 km of cross-country skiing tracks.
