Montafon (700m -
2430m)
The southernmost valley of Vorarlberg, the
Montafon , is embedded between the Rätikon, Verwall and Silvretta mountain ranges. Authenticity and diversity make Montafon a place full of adventure, relaxation, hospitality and enjoyment, in summer and winter.
The Montafon has the ski areas
Golm near Vandans and Tschagguns,
Silvretta Montafon near Schruns, Silbertal, St. Gallenkirch and Gaschurn as well as
Gargellen.
One of the highlights is the “Diabolo run” in the Golm ski area, which is one of the steepest slopes in the Alps with a gradient of up to 70 percent. The Silvretta Montafon offers a lot of space, with 117 km of slopes and 28 km of ski routes available. The area is suitable for beginners and families thanks to its approximately 90km of blue and red slopes, but also for experts who get their money's worth in the snow park, the freeride routes or the black "scorpion slopes". It is not for nothing that the area advertises itself as the sportiest ski resort in Austria.
From the highest point on the Alpilagrat at 2,430 m to 690 m in Schruns, there is a lot to experience, such as the Hochjochtotale, a complete descent over 12 kilometers that is one of the longest in Austria. No matter the conditions, around two thirds of the slopes can be snowed.
Summer in Montafon
Of course, the area offers much more than just sports in winter; during the summer you can explore the landscape on one of the numerous hiking trails, ride one of the numerous (E)-MTB trails or try out a via ferrata, regardless of whether you are a beginner or not is one of the experts.
New Since 2023, “Gravity Carts” are now available in Silvretta with which everyone can whiz down the mountain.
