Tignes (2100m)
Espace Killy | Savoie Mont Blanc | France Tignes is one of the most famous French ski resorts and forms together with the neighbouring village of Val d'Isére the gigantic ski area called "Tignes-Val d'Isére". It is situated at an altitude of 2100 m of and therefore guarantees snow from November till May.
Tignes is situated in a spacious high valley next to a small lake and consists of three village parts - Le Lavachet, Val Claret and Tignes-le-Lac, but in contrary to Val d’Isère, Tignes does not offer a cosy or romantic mountain atmosphere.
The traditional district of Tignes-Les Breviéres, with its quaint, narrow streets, cosy chalets and atmospheric Savoyard restaurants, offers a mountain village atmosphere and at the same time direct access to the huge ski area.
Val Claret is situated at the end of the valley. This is where the underground Funicular de la Grande Motte starts, which takes you up to the glacial ski area (3.030 m altitude) in only 5 minutes.
In addition to skiing, Tignes also scores with its exceptionally varied off-piste programme; in this respect too, Tignes is absolutely at the top in France: numerous bars, restaurants, pizzerias, shops, clubs, tennis, squash, sauna, large indoor adventure pool with wellness, etc., are available to holidaymakers.
Please note: in Tignes, all public car parks are with costs (reservation recommended).
